Botanist in Real Life

I took this picture during the late hours of November 17, 2012. This display is a culmination of a day of pinning and identifying the insects. I am a task-driven person who strive to complete assignments by the deadline. Because I am focused, I can work independently as well as on a team. I enjoyed the challenges that biology research projects poses, and the application of my skills. Thorough, capable, determine, and confident are terms that best describe who I am.

I am an individual with a Master of Science in Biology.  If you know of a biology position in which you feel my background and knowledge would make a contribution , please contact me. I would be very interested in discussing possible positions. Thank you for looking through my Resume site.

Graduation Ceremony

I worked hard to attain the Master of Science degree and completing a thesis. As a student, I was always willing to push myself to work harder. I believed that I could do almost anything to which I set my mind. My objective is to locate a career position within the field of biology.

Life as a Botanist in Shippensburg

I was usually tired after a long day in the field from collecting leaves, fruits, and/or invertebrate. But I was still very happy and excited to carry out a research project that I had planned with the purpose of testing the enemy release hypothesis. The outcomes of data were an interesting find and I hope to publish it in a journal.

My Thesis Committee Team members were Dr. Heather Sahli. Dr. Todd Hurd, and Dr. Gregory S. Paulson.

A part of being a Botanist is to be independent in my research. Another part is to be very eager and willing to do the project. It demands commitment in completing it. With my ability and my capability, I am qualified to perform a wide array of positions.

Gardening: a botany activity

I enjoyed planting and landscaping. I am the one with my name on me.

I also helped out with selling plants. I always made time for biology activities, including going to the Baltimore Aquarium, Zoo, and attending the Science Museum on the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Research in Colorado

This research project involved the growth of pollen tubes of the Solanaceae Family conducted in Colorado for 4 months. I presented an introduction to my project, a powerpoint presentation, an oral presentation, and writing a manuscript similar to what was done in Arizona. I participate in a weekly field trip with the REU group. Some of the field trips were to project sites to increase our awareness of the types of positions that are available with a biology degree.

My REU mentors were Paul Covey and Dr. Subbaiah Chalivendra. The committee mentor was Dr. Patricia Bedinger.

Research in Arizona

My research project involved testing the uptake of MerT. This involved a weekly field trip with students who were also accepted into the UBRP, as well as my mentor Dr. Chris Rensing and his research lab members.

First Hand Experience, Cows and Calves was written by me about my UBRP trip to the  Goldman’s Dairy in Coolidge.

My experience on the Catalina mountains involved observing flowers that I had never observed previously, looking outward from the mountain, observing and examining a variety of rocks.
